Gleason Corporation (Rochester, New York) and Gebr. Heller Maschinenfabrik (Nürtingen, Germany) have formed a strategic alliance to cooperate in the development and sale of five-axis machining centers for gear production applications. Under the terms of the agreement, Gleason will act as the exclusive distributor of machines incorporating Heller’s existing gear solutions, and the two companies will cooperate to further improve the capabilities of such platforms.
Gleason also recently acquired K2 Plastics, a Bergen, New York-based producer of precision plastic gears and other complex plastic parts. Gleason will retain K2’s existing management team, and the latter company will continue to operate from its current manufacturing facility.
