Renishaw’s German subsidiary is acquiring LBC Laser Bearbeitungs Center GmbH of Kornwestheim, Germany, as part of an asset deal. The latter company is an additive manufacturer of conformally cooled mold tools and tool inserts for injection molding and die-casting applications.

The deal will create a new business, LBC Engineering, comprised of LBC Laser Bearbeitungs Center GmbH employees which will continue to offer services to its existing customers. The new business will be fully integrated with Renishaw GmbH at its offices in Pliezhausen, Germany. The acquisition will enable Renishaw to offer additive manufacturing services such as design, simulation, and the contract manufacture of metal prototypes and production parts, in addition to its existing laser melting systems.
