A new facility will serve the Americas.

Share

Sandvik Coromant, the tooling division of Sandvik, broke ground for a new facility in December 2012 near the site of Sandvik’s current U.S. headquarters in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. The facility will serve as Sandvik Coromant’s head office in the United States and a hub for the division’s Market Area Americas, which includes the United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Latin America. The completed building will be a 108,000-square-foot facility designed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) standards. The facility will provide general office space, a Productivity Center and an Aerospace Application Center (AAC).

The Productivity Center and AAC will focus on helping American manufacturers maximize productivity and profitability. The Productivity Center will be staffed with training and machining specialists who will educate customers through theory-based training courses, technical seminars and hands-on machining demonstrations. The AAC will also be staffed with industry specialists to support customer projects and training in processes for aerospace.

Sandvik Coromant recently demonstrated its commitment to American manufacturing with a grant of metalcutting tools worth $40,000 to Workshops for Warriors. The San Diego, California non-profit is dedicated to providing job training, certification and placement to veterans. The donation includes technical and application support from Sandvik’s Productivity Center in Cypress, California.
