Stratasys Selects Finalists for Annual 3D Printing Competition

There are 10 student finalists in each of three categories, each redesigning or designing a new product to be 3D printed.

Additive manufacturing company Stratasys Ltd. (Minneapolis, Minnesota; Rehovot, Israel) has selected the finalists for its 11th annual Extreme Redesign 3D Printing Challenge for students in secondary and post-secondary educational institutions worldwide. During the final round of judging, industry experts will select winners in the categories of Art and Architecture, Engineering (secondary) and Engineering (post-secondary). Contestants were challenged to redesign an existing product or create a new one that improves how a task is accomplished. Entries were evaluated based on criteria including creativity, mechanical soundness and realistic achievability. The winner in each category will receive a $2,500 scholarship, with second- and third-place finalists receiving scholarships of $1,000. The instructor of the first-place winner in each category will receive a demo 3D printer to use in the classroom for a limited time.

Since the contest’s inception, the company has awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships to students.
