Heller’s CP 8000 horizontal machining center conducts milling and turning operations for complete five-axis machining in a single setup. The HMC handles larger workpieces in its work area measuring 1,250 × 1,200 × 1,400 mm, accommodating pallets measuring 800 × 800 mm. The machining center accommodates workpieces ranging to 1,250 mm in diameter and 1,400 mm in height, and weighing as much as 2,000 kg. The machine is well-suited for machining predominantly cubic workpieces or components featuring a rotationally symmetric length-to-diameter ratio of less than 1.

The fifth axis integrated into the tool enables internal or external turning contours whether horizontal or vertical with the C or A and B axes. The direct torque drive system in the rotary table enables rotating the workpiece against the tool. The machine is capable of identifying imbalances in the workpiece or rotary table using drive-internal signals and correcting errors, without the need for additional sensors.
