Ohio Tool Works offers its VersaHone vertical honing system suitable for use in automotive, aerospace, hydraulic and other applications. Available in both single and multi-spindle configurations, the honing machine is designed to be highly versatile and can be customized with specialized tooling and cutting fluid formulations to ensure straightness and surface finish. Multi-spindle versions include independent feed systems for adjusting stock removal rates between parts.

ID capacity ranges from 0.25" to 5" (6.35 to 127 mm), and OD capacity ranges to 11" (280 mm) on the single-spindle models or 7.25" (184 mm) with twin-spindles. Spindle drives offering 7.5 hp (5.6 kW) or 10 hp (7.4 kW) are available, with spindle speeds ranging to 1,500 rpm. Reciprocation rate ranges from 10 to 120 fpm (3 to 36.6 m/min.). Other standard features include independent feed systems for adjusting stock removal rates between parts; automatic tool expansion; a tool guide; hardened steel profile ways; ballscrew reciprocation; touchscreen PLC operator controls; and part program storage.

Options include a universal fixture or indexing table; coolant filtration system; electrical system options; a selection of vitrified and metalbond abrasives; and 12.0", 24.0" or 36.0" (305, 610 or 915 mm) stroke lengths. Integrated gaging and part-handling options are also available.
