Cisco Systems Inc. (Deerfield Township, Ohio) is joining the board of the Nagoya, Japan-based CC-Link Partner Association (CLPA), whose objective is to promote the widespread use of the Ethernet-based industrial open network CC-Link IE. The two organizations will collaborate to promote industrial Internet of Things solutions based on CC-Link IE. Cisco’s participation in the CLPA will also include driving technology in the greater Asia Pacific for industrial environments such as manufacturing.

As a CLPA board member, Cisco will provide expertise in Ethernet switches and wireless, TCP/IP and security technology, which is intended to help the CLPA build a solid TCP/IP foundation within a CC-Link IE network infrastructure.

The CLPA says that the manufacturing industry is now experiencing a widespread demand for industrial networks that provide high security and determinism. CC-Link IE is meant to meet these demands with gigabit performance while maintaining TCP/IP compatibility.
