Hoffman Group Expands Garant Master Tap Line

Hoffman Group’s Garant Master Tap Inox is now available in inch sizes and metric threads with a longer design for increased reach, and for all thread standards.

Hoffman Group Garant Master Tap Inox

The Hoffmann Group has expanded its Garant Master Tap product range to include additional thread taps in stainless and high-alloy steels. The Garant Master Tap Inox is now available for thread diameters from M1.6 to M24 and with longer lengths for increased reach. It is also available for UNC and UNF inch diameters from No. 2 to 1" standards in addition to the thread standards M, MF, and G (British standard pipe).

The Garant Master Tap Inox is suitable for producing through and blind hole threads with a tolerance of 6 GX. It is said to provide process reliability, performance capability and a long working life due to its cutting edge geometry, which provides evenly turned chips ejected in a targeted way. The backs of the teeth shear off the chips, polish the chip roots and prevent loose or twisted swarf from forming.

The cutting edges of the Garant Master Tap Inox have also been rounded off to ensure reliable thread machining in stainless and high-alloy steels. As a result, the teeth resist fracture and the tool wears evenly. A wear-resistant powder metallurgy high strength, cobalt-alloy steel (HSS-E-PM) tool material and low-friction TiAlN layer protect against premature wear.

For users that also want to machine different steels, aluminum, brass and cast iron, there is the general-purpose Garant Master Tap, designed to achieve precise results, even in ductile copper alloys, without any axial overcutting and to make frequent tool changes redundant.

Walter's Xtreme Evo DC160 Advance Provides High Productivity

Walter USA’s Xtreme Evo DC160 Advance solid carbide drill is designed for high productivity drilling in a wide range of materials.

Walter drill

Walter USA’s versatile Xtreme Evo DC160 Advance solid carbide drill is designed to deliver high productivity in a wide variety of materials and can be used in a broad range of applications, including in the mold and die, energy, automotive and general metalworking areas.

Apart from the 30×DC L/D ratio offering, the drill's design innovations include double margins and placement of second margins to improve centering capabilities and the tendency of the drills to stabilize early into the cut. This gives an advantage in performing difficult applications such as cross holes and inclined entry and exits. According to the company, a deep chip gash ensures reliable chip evacuation, resulting in improved hole quality and reliability, and a thinner web produces more accurate positioning, as well as reduced cutting forces and vibration.

Available in a variety of dimensions ranging to 30×DC and in diameters from 0.125"-0.75" (3-25 mm), the drill features grades WJ30ET (full coating) for universal usage up to eight times DC and WJ30EU (tip coating) for 12 to 30×DC. The drills have both a cylindrical (HA) and whistle notch (HE) shanks ground to an H6 tolerance. The point angle is 140 degrees. The drill is suited for a variety of ISO materials including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, nonferrous materials, superalloys, hard materials and nonmetal materials.

In addition to standard jaws, Dillon also offers special or modified hard jaws with short turnaround time.

YG-1's ENMX High-Feed Milling Tools Provide Insert Clamping Security

IMTS Spark: YG-1’s ENMX High-Feed Mill 4 is a series of small-diameter cutting tools developed to meet stringent demands of versatility, productivity and process stability.

YG-1 ENMX

YG-1’s ENMX High-Feed Mill 4 is a series of small-diameter cutting tools for die/mold, power generation and other machining applications. The ENMX insert’s thickness allows normal flank wear to develop without encroaching on the secondary edge, resulting in the full use of all four edges, the company says. Thicker inserts also clamp more securely, the company says, ensuring predictable and secure machining and longer tool life in difficult applications. The thicker negative insert has a positive rake angle that improves chip evacuation and reduces machining load. The corner protection design is said further to enhance rigidity while increasing tool life in combination with the chipbreaker’s optimized geometry.

The ENMX cylindrical cutter is available in diameters ranging from 16 to 32 mm (0.75" to 1.25"). Shell mills are available in diameters ranging from 40 to 50 mm (1.5" to 2").

Star SU's Single-Flute Gundrills Suitable for Medical Device Machining

Star SU’s solid carbide gundrills are designed for work in medical-grade materials such as titanium and stainless steel.

Star SU gundrills

Star SU’s solid carbide gundrills are designed for work in medical-grade materials such as titanium and stainless steel. The single-flute tools meet part print requirements for medical devices and instruments. The company reports tool life improvement in both titanium (6Al-4V) and 440 stainless steel, driven by selection of carbide grade, surface finish, edge preparation and coating.

The solid carbide gundrills are made in a two-piece design. The tip and body are a single piece of carbide brazed into the driver/shank, while the flute is ground down the length of the head and body. The rigid gundrills are equipped with high-pressure coolant delivery capabilities. The tools provide coolant delivery holes in diameters ranging from 0.700 mm (0.028").
