Strausak’s One five‐axis flexible tool and cutter grinding machine features Numroto tool design software for grinding rotary and stationary cutting tools in small- and large-batch production for custom cutting tools as well as for resharpening.

This model is scalable and has been designed so any options can be upgraded and retrofitted at any time during the life of the machine, the company says.

It features a thermal stability and Cpk process capability index. It is said the thermal stability is very high due to the machine design and a rigid, five‐axis configuration. Field tests are said to have demonstrated a high Cpk process capability. This is particularly important when grinding short‐run custom tooling where accuracy and “first tool good” are critical.

Linear motion technology is included, which is said to ensure excellent surface finishes both on radius and other primary reliefs as well as flute finish. Linear motors also said to reduce the machine’s footprint.

According to the company, the machine features a synchronous spindle, which can run at a maximum 40% power draw or less and does not release any heat into the machine or into the grinding process. This is said to greatly help maintain a consistent grinding process and thermal stability.

The Numroto software platform is said to offer users a high‐performance tool design and intuitive programming for an unlimited range of applications.

The company says this machine offers a small footprint with a 32-mm (1.1/4")-capacity, without any compromise in rigidity, sturdiness or power for production grinding.

The scalable, modular grinding machine can be retrofitted on-site after delivery to help users stay competitive in a dynamic, unpredictable environment. Some of the scalable options include upgrades to a 32-hp synchronous grinding spindle, eight‐position or twelve‐position wheel changer, or an 8‐position collet sleeve changer and many more.

Some machine options include a four‐position automatic wheel changer, tool probing, wheel probing, quick‐change collet system and an ergonomically designed control panel with vertical height adjustment.
