Tungaloy Drills, Milling Inserts Provide Enhanced Stability
Tungaloy has expanded its DrillForceMeister and TecMill lines with new drill bodies and milling inserts.
Tungaloy-NTK America Inc. has added 8XD drill bodies to its DrillForceMeister exchangeable-head drill line for opening holes in diameters from 20-41 mm (0.787"-1.614").
DrillForceMeister incorporates a specialized head-shank coupling interface that provides exceptional reliability when drilling relatively large diameter holes from 20-41 mm. When clamped, the drill head interlocks with the shank at larger contact areas, promoting high hole precisions and qualities. Additionally, with the SMF flat-edged drill head, drilling operations on inclined or curved surfaces or on thin walls susceptible to vibration are made easier and more efficient.
Tool replacement is performed simply by exchanging the drill heads; there is no need to remove the drill body from the chuck or readjust the tool overhang, saving tool setup time.
DrillForceMeister now offers nine 8XD drill bodies in cutting diameters (DC) for 28.0-28.9 mm (1.102"-1.138"), 31.0-31.9 mm (1.220"-1.256") and 34.0-41.9 mm (1.339"-1.650"), in 0.1 mm (0.0039") increments.
Additionally, Tungaloy has also added ten total inserts of AH3225 and AH8015 physical vapor deposition (PVD) coated grades to its TecMill roughing tangential milling cutter line for heavy-duty square shoulder and face milling operations.
TecMill is designed to handle heavy-duty roughing processes of face and square shoulder milling operations, which usually involve medium to high horsepower machines. Tangentially, mounting of robust inserts enhances tool stability and provides a thick core, enabling high efficiency during heavy-duty milling operations.
Providing increased reliability and tool life in steel, the new AH3225 insert grade consists of a specialized nano-multilayer coating featuring three distinctive characteristics for improved resistance to built-up edge, wear and delamination, combined with a dedicated tough carbide substrate. AH8015 is another PVD grade, consisting of a hard PVD coating combined with a tough carbide substrate. The grade is said to demonstrate excellent tool life stability in cast iron and heat-resistant superalloys.
