Leaders-In background

Gibbs and Associates’ GibbsCAM VoluMill Solids is designed for high speed machining (HSM) solid models directly within the CAM software. The VoluMill Solids option, an incremental enhancement to the VoluMill Wireframe option, is fully integrated within GibbsCAM. Users can select solids, surfaces and facet bodies to generate efficient HSM toolpaths, the company says.

The software option develops toolpaths optimized for volumetric material removal, based on desirable material removal rates, by using continuous tangential motion, specialized contour ramping and adaptive feed rates. By leveling tool load, maintaining constant machine-tool motion and using high-speed repositioning, the software increases tool life and reduces cycle times, the company says.

The software option enables users to directly machine solid models created in GibbsCAM, SolidWorks, Inventor, Catia, Pro/Engineer Wildfire, Siemens NX or various other CAD systems.
