Anca has created a special tool loading kit for its FX Linear grinding machines to meet an increasing demand in 2.35 mm-diameter shank medical drills, such as are used in dentistry. These kits include tailored RoboMate pallets compatible with FANUC 200iD robot loaders.
The pallet top allows for shank insertion depth reductions with an 8-mm pocket depth, enabling loading of drills with only 10 mm of available shank length. The robot grippers have also been modified to handle the reduced thickness of the stainless medical grade alloys used in medical manufacturing. These grippers can accommodate diameters 2-10 mm for tools up to 100 mm in length, with maximum head diameters of 14 mm.
The small medical drill kit also supports adjustable tool clamping pressure settings from 1.5 bar to 5 bar to prevent damage during loading, with pressure adjustable via RoboMate software.
